Penn State Students Complete ELECTRI Student Passport Initiative

ELECTRI International has received confirmation that the Student Passport Initiative in Honduras is now complete. In 2014, Penn State's NECA Student Chapter team received a $20,000 award from ELECTRI for winning the 1st Student Passport Competition in 2014. The students travelled to the island of Roatán in early March to install a 3kW PV array for a community water pumping station.

David Riley, Ph.D., Penn State Associate Professor, Department of Architectural Engineering, who supported the team in its efforts on site, complimented the achievement: "The Penn State students have been wonderful ambassadors for renewable energy in the community, including activities for students at three local schools." 

The ELECTRI Council will get a full report on this project directly from the Penn State Student Chapter when the Council meets in Chicago this July. 


ELECTRI is now accepting proposals for its 2015 Student Passport Initiative Competition. The proposal submission deadline is May 18. Full competition details are available at
