As ELECTRI International moves into its grant-making season, interest is high among faculty investigators and NECA Student Chapters for available awards.

ELECTRI Director of Operations, Deborah Halpern, is responsible for the coordination of proposal review and logistics.  She reports:

  • Eight applications for the Early Career Awards that focus on research opportunities for younger faculty members with awards up to $9,000 each.
  • Four NECA Student Chapters proposals for the Student Passport Initiative in which students, faculty, NECA Chapter sponsors, and local contractors come together to provide much-needed electrical service for an underprivileged domestic or international community. ELECTRI will award up to $20,000 to support the Initiative selected by the Council.
  • 11 Green Energy Challenge project presentations in which Student Chapters offer detailed plans for a retrofit in their local community. A jury of ELECTRI Council members will invite three finalist teams to present their project proposals in front of contractors and industry allies during the NECA Annual Convention. ELECTRI offers cash awards to the winning school and winning individual presenter.
